Hello Elias and team! My name is Holly Popkin, it’s lovely to virtually meet you. I am a trained British actor/VO from Surrey, England and I’m now based in the gorgeous PNW (Portland, OR) with my husband. My career began upon receiving a BA degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Chichester in England. Since then I have continued training for stage, screen and voice work. Some career highlights have included: joining The Great Audiobook Adventure and adding audiobooks to my VO career (my current audiobook - The Whispering Key - will be releasing soon on Audible). Performing at the renowned Brighton Fringe Festival in the principal role of Viv Nicholson (Spend, Spend, Spend) and joining Bodelwyddan castle as a lead vocalist. Voicing characters across stop motion animation productions and e-learning for Rebecca Everlene Trust's MEDKid program.

The majority of my career is now focused in voice acting, in genres such as animation, audiobooks, and e-learning. I’m particularly drawn to stories that center the dynamics of family life and the complicated scenarios that can follow, mental health and imagined worlds outside of our everyday experiences. Like those in the works of the musical ‘Next to Normal’, Sarah Raul's ‘Melancholy Play’, and the imagined world of ‘It Takes Two’ (video game).


I have converted an upstairs closet into my recording booth. This is a dedicated recording booth. The walls are covered fully in MDF panels with acoustic tiles on top and a Producers Choice sound blanket on the inside across the doorway. Inside my booth I use a Shure SM7b microphone (with its included pop filter) which is connected to an in-line Fethead preamp going into my Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 (4th gen) interface. I punch and roll my audio into Adobe Audition. I keep my desktop tower outside the booth and use a monitor inside for viewing manuscripts/DAW. My noise floor sits around -66dbs. There is a small desk in the booth which is covered with blankets, the floor is carpeted and there are additional blankets under the small desk.

Your production company stands out to me, especially, for its care in creating and building relationships with authors and publishers and providing a collaborative approach throughout the audiobook process.
