Lucinda Gainey is a classically trained actress with a BFA in Drama (Acting Emphasis) from Carnegie-Mellon University. She worked exclusively on stage until about twelve years ago when she began working behind a microphone. She has worked in commercial, eLearning, medical, and documentary styles of voice-over. When she discovered audiobooks, they immediately became her passion and primary focus. She loves entering the world of a book, telling the story, and getting to play all the parts.

Outside the booth her main interests are taking care of her family (husband, adult children, and cats), playing games (RPG, board, video, computer), and working in theater (particularly Shakespeare) both on and off stage.

She has lived in a number of different places and done a number of different jobs over the years. She grew up partially on a farm in west central Illinois, had a horse and loved riding. After college she moved to Minneapolis where she performed in local theaters and as a street performer with a comedy/juggling troupe. She also worked as a secretary and as a tax preparer.

After meeting her husband in an online RPG, she moved to Boston then upstate New York, had kids, and moved to North Carolina where she still lives. She has been an elementary school teacher (Drama), a barista, a voice coach (speaking not singing), and an adopter of strays–not just animals but adult children in need of a safe place to stay.
