SUMMARY

It’s been two years since the pathogen shut down Mirari Vega’s world. All of the women in her life are dead. She's next and she knows it. The tickle in her throat will become an ache, her chest will fill with fluid, and her muscles will waste away.

So when Dr. Thomas Vega offers his eighteen-year-old daughter another alternative, Mirari has an impossible decision to make. She can climb into bed and die with a fever of 104 degrees or climb into her father's cryogenic chamber and die at -320 degrees. She calls it a suicide machine. He calls it a chance for her to live once the pathogen is gone. Neither can imagine the horrors waiting for Mirari when she opens her eyes again.

The planet is an ugly place without women—dangerous, depraved, and desperate for a queen. Beautiful robots called “feminals” give the surviving men companionship but can’t give them children. Mirari’s fertility is now the ultimate natural resource. But to put a crown on her head, they'll have to catch her first. Mirari Vega is no man's pretty princess.
